Drop-in for a fun, messy craft, art, science, or STEAM project. A different theme will be explored each week. A parent or caregiver must attend. All materials will be provided. No registration required. Skills learned- creativity, coloring, painting, cutting, gluing, following instructions, sitting at a table, and sharing. Snacks will be provided. Dress for a mess!
Note: Messy and sensory play has many benefits, including fostering creativity, imagination, and exploration. By using materials such as sand, water, chalk, paint, Play-Doh, glue, or clay, children can make their own discoveries and discover their own senses. Messy and sensory play can also help develop social skills such as communication and interaction and develop language skills and encourage speech. The librarian can provide speaking and listening opportunities by asking questions and describing sensations and textures (Schoolhouse, n.d.).
Staffing: The Children’s Librarian and The Children’s Department Assistant will run this program together.
